J. D. Vance and the Technocratic Elite, By Brian Simpson

There are various views on the metapolitical agenda of Trump's running mate for vice president, J. D. Vance. One view has it:

that Vance who was, and is, part of the New Class Technocratic elite, turned to Trump after being opposed to him, to build up a new conservative counter-elite:

"The political balance is beginning to shift. A significant cohort of power brokers in Silicon Valley and on Wall Street have publicly moved toward Trump in this election cycle. Some of the names are familiar: Elon Musk, Marc Andreessen, David Sacks, Bill Ackman. But hundreds of other influential figures are assembling behind the scenes to support Trump's campaign. Even some of Trump's former adversaries, such as Mark Zuckerberg, have expressed cautious admiration for the former president.

Vance can now position himself at the center of this counter-elite. He has been in the boardrooms, made the pitches, and built the relationships. He speaks their language. They can do business together."

On this idea Trump will appeal to the ordinary folk, while Vance will appeal to the elites, from which he is already intimately entwined:

We do not know where this will go at this point. But perhaps if Vance can move the tech elites to the conservative position, this will be a game changer. Zuckerberg recently expressed something of a "cultural shift," when he said that he will not support neither Democrats or Republicans, but that:

"On a personal note," Zuckerberg said, "seeing Donald Trump get up after getting shot in the face and pump his fist in the air with the American flag is one of the most badass things I've ever seen in my life."

"And I think at some level as an American, it's hard to not get kind of emotional about that spirit and that fight. And I think that's why a lot of people like the guy," he said."
