“If You Go Posting Videos of Chairman Mao You Ain’t Gonna Make it with Anyone Anyhow!” By James Reed
The title line is a paraphrase from the socialist Beatles' song Revolution, back in the socialist days of the 1960s. But the phrase comes to mind in response to the recent posting by a Chinese Foreign spokeswoman Mao Ning, who responded to Trump's tariff war with footage of Chairman Mao Zedong, declaring that "we are not afraid." Chairman Mao proclaiming a determination to "fight" until China "completely triumphs" against the US under President Eisenhower. Mao Ning posted the footage of the genocidal founder of the Chinese Communist Party on X, adding "We are Chinese. We are not afraid of provocations. We don't back down." Fine, see where that goes.
Mao has the record of being the greatest mass murderer in history, responsible, by some estimates, of upwards from 50 million deaths under his cultural revolution. This genocide by communism happened in the life time of many of us, by our trading partner, which unlike Germany, is continuous and proud of its past, as the post by Mao Ning shows.
