Hoist the Union Jack and Lose Your Job; Fly the Palestinian Flag and Get a Council Grant! By Richard Miller (Londonistan)

Thirsk, North Yorkshire, November 2025. Shaun Remmer, a 48-year-old teaching assistant and proud Yorkshireman, decides to do something quaintly British: he puts up 150 Union Jack flags around his home town to celebrate "unity" and give the place a bit of patriotic colour. Neighbours stop him in the street to shake his hand. Old boys in the pub buy him a pint. Children point and smile.

Then the complaints roll in, just a handful, but apparently from the right postcodes and the right identities. Someone rings his employer. Within days he is called in, suspended, investigated, and finally sacked. Reason? The flags made some people feel "unsafe" and "excluded." In plain English: flying the flag of the United Kingdom in the United Kingdom is now a workplace disciplinary offence if the wrong person says it upsets them.

Meanwhile, in the same country, in the same month:

Palestinian flags fly from council buildings in Tower Hamlets, Rochdale, and Bradford without anyone losing a single hour's pay.

Rainbow Progress flags are compulsory on every NHS lanyard, school gate, and police car.

In Leeds, the city council spent £18,000 on giant Palestinian flags for a "solidarity" display while quietly telling residents they can't put England flags up during the Euros because it might "inflame community tensions."

This is no longer mere double standards; it is the deliberate inversion of sovereignty. The symbols of the historic nation are treated as hate speech. The symbols of every other identity group are treated as mandatory.

The message from Britain's managerial class could not be clearer: the Union Jack is the only flag in the country that requires a risk assessment.

And it's not just flags.

Remember the Batley Grammar School teacher who, in 2021, showed a cartoon of Mohammed in a lesson on free speech and blasphemy? He is still in hiding four years later, moved house multiple times, living under a false name, while the protesters who firebombed his car and put a bounty on his head walk free and are invited onto BBC panels to discuss "community cohesion."

Remember the autistic 16-year-old in Kettlethorpe who accidentally scuffed a copy of the Koran? Four police officers turned up at his school to take statements and issue a terror-marker warning. No one was disciplined for overreacting; the boy's mother was told to be grateful it wasn't worse.

Now contrast that with the actual terrorist watch list: in the last five years, over 40,000 people have been referred to Prevent. Fewer than 5% were white British natives. The rest? You're not allowed to ask too loudly, because that would be Islamophobic.

This is what surrender looks like in slow motion.

It is not the confident multiculturalism of a secure nation that can laugh at itself. It is the cringing, self-loathing submission of a people who have been taught for two generations that their own history is uniquely shameful, their flag uniquely toxic, their identity uniquely illegitimate.

The British state no longer defends the British people; it polices them on behalf of everyone else.

The same councils that will fine you for putting a St George's cross in your own front window will spend your council tax flying the Palestinian flag at half-mast the day after a Hamas attack.

This is not weakness by accident. It is weakness by design.

A nation that is embarrassed by its own flag has already lost the will to defend its own borders, its own streets, its own daughters. Grooming gangs operated for decades in Rotherham, Rochdale, Telford, because authorities were terrified of being called racist. Native working-class girls were sacrificed on the altar of "community relations." Meanwhile, a man in Thirsk loses his job for the crime of being visibly British.

There is a word for a country that treats its founding population as second-class citizens in their own homeland: colony.

Britain is not yet a caliphate, but it is already a client state, of guilt, of fear, of imported grievance politics. The Union Jack has become the only flag you can be fired for flying, while every other banner is celebrated as "diversity."

One day, and not far off, some brave soul will walk into the market square of Thirsk, or Keighley, or Bury, and plant a twelve-foot Union Jack in the ground and dare anyone to take it down.

When that day comes, we will discover whether England is merely asleep, or already dead.

Until then, the message from the elites is unmistakable:

Raise the Palestinian flag, the Progress flag, the BLM flag, any flag you like. Just don't, whatever you do, raise the flag of the country you were born in.

Because that one belongs to history, and history is cancelled.
