Gain-of-function research in genetics, involves, to state it simply, genetically modifying viruses to make them more deadly, the sorts of things that one would not want to escape from a lab. In this mess there is a ray of hope coming from the Trump administration as Robert Kennedy Jr. is moving to change this. Trump has signed an Executive Order banning federal funding for gain-of-function research. This has caused the Dr Frankenstein scientists to jump up and down, and chew carpet. But as detailed below, this is a major step forward. Covid-19 would not have existed if the US had such an order in place.
Still, there is a long way to go as the bioweapons labs still exist right across the world, and next time of the virus gets out of the backdoor of the bioweapons lab it could be a real killer.

Not just because of what the order does, but because of what it ends. And that's when RFK Jr. dropped the chilling history behind gain of function in America.
