Frankfurt's Multicultural Experiment – Harmony, Havoc, or Human Nature's Predictable Mess? By Richard Miller (London)

The article from RMX News paints Frankfurt as Germany's diversity darling turned dystopian cautionary tale: soaring crime pinned on migrants, segregated neighbourhoods, crumbling public spaces, and a fading Christian heritage overshadowed by Ramadan lights. It's a familiar conservative critique – mass immigration as the root of urban decay, with stats on rapes quadrupling since 2015 and foreigners allegedly behind 100% of serious sexual assaults. The piece warns that if Frankfurt's the "most diverse" city, Germany's future looks grim without slamming the borders shut.

Frankfurt's indeed a global hub: Over 776,000 residents, with 32% foreigners and 58% having a migration background (including second-generation). Muslims number around 137,000, Christians 218,000 (down from 300,000 in 2010), reflecting broader shifts in a city that's long attracted bankers, expats, and refugees. The Bahnhofsviertel? Yeah, it's rough – a historic red-light district turned drug hotspot with 5,000 addicts and 300 dealers, per police estimates. YouTuber Kurt Caz's viral vid (8M views) and BR's documentary highlight the grime, violence, and migrant involvement.

Crime stats are the article's big hook: Brutality up from 9,115 cases in 2015 to 14,258 in 2024; rapes from 436 to 1,623. Non-Germans allegedly behind 57.4% of serious crimes, 64.1% of rapes, 100% of serious sexual assaults, etc. But zoom out: Germany's overall crime dropped to 1992 lows by 2018, with a post-pandemic rebound. Non-Germans (17% of population) are suspects in 42% of crimes nationwide (2024), but this includes immigration violations (which Germans can't commit) and tourists. Excluding those, migrant crime rose 11.9% in 2022, but temporary migrants (asylum seekers, etc.) were only 8.8% of suspects in 2024. In Frankfurt specifically, non-Germans are 70%+ of suspects in some reports, but context matters: Many are repeat offenders (1% account for 40% of migrant crimes), and stats exclude Germans with migration backgrounds.

Segregation? The cited Frontiers of Sociology study pegs Frankfurt as Germany's most segregated (Duncan Index 0.20), with immigrants clustering in low-income areas while wealthier natives/EU expats head to suburbs. Rents? Sky-high, partly from population growth (including migration), but also housing shortages and economic booms. Anti-Semitism? Rising post-Oct. 7, 2023, with incidents tied to some protests, but not solely migration-driven.

Why Expect Radical Cultures to Blend Harmoniously? Human History Says: Don't Bet on It

Assuming wildly different cultures will merge without friction is naive, given our species' track record. Humans are wired for tribalism – evolution favoured in-group cooperation for survival, often at out-groups' expense. History's littered with clashes when cultures collide:

Clash of Civilizations Vibes: Samuel Huntington's thesis? Post-Cold War conflicts stem from cultural/religious divides, like Islam vs. West (e.g., Ottoman sieges of Vienna, Reconquista in Spain). Yugoslavia's 1990s breakup: Ethnic/religious lines (Serbs, Croats, Bosniaks) led to genocide. Rwanda's Hutu-Tutsi slaughter: Colonial divides amplified tribal hatred.

Colonial Carnage: European empires imposed cultures, sparking resistance (e.g., India's Mughal-British tensions, Native American-European wars). Even "blends" like Latin America's mestizo societies hid violence and inequality.

Modern Echoes: Nuer vs. Dinka in Sudan: Cultural norms on group size enabled Nuer conquest. Or Chechnya's Russian-Muslim strife.

If the West survives, there needs to be a deep investigation into who exactly proposed the radical revision of normal society known as multiculturalism.
