On February 18, 2016, in the Pope's campaign against Trump he said that building walls is "unchristian," and in more recent times he has continues this theme. "A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian. This is not in the Gospel."
That is interesting since with a Google search one can find that Vatican City is completely walled off and is a citadel with armed guards. There are some pictures of the walls and security details here:

For the Pope, allowing open borders for Western countries is fine, but not his own piece of turf, Vatican City. So far, he has not been publicly challenged to his face on this, and as a religious leader of sorts is allowed slack to get away with things that others would get roasted about. I think that should end because he is clearly a globalist political figure.
