The issue I find interesting is does the mocking “oath” by Greens Senator Lidia Thorpe, invalidate her appointment? After all, it is arguable that the oath was made mockingly, and thus insincerely. Should this be taken up as a point of law? Nope, no-one has the energy anymore to pursue such points, too many other epic battles drain energies of conservatives. Anyway, that is the Greens for you, a so-called climate apocalypse according to their paradigm, but political correctness and radical Leftist agendas trump even climate bs.
“Greens Senator Lidia Thorpe has caused a ruckus in federal parliament after mockingly reciting the oath of allegiance and slamming the Queen as a 'coloniser'.
The First Nations senator marched into the Senate on Monday morning and appeared to give a black power salute by holding her fist up in the air as she approached the central table.
Ms Thorpe then sarcastically recited the oath of allegiance as she continued holding her fist in the air.
'I will be faithful and I bear true allegiance to the colonising Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second,' the outspoken politician said in a mocking tone.
Senator Thorpe was reprimanded and, smirking, eventually recited the oath correctly and was sworn into parliament.
Her conduct received support from Greens Leader Adam Bandt, who tweeted: 'Always was. Always will be.'
However, scores of social media users criticised Senator Thorpe's behaviour on Twitter.
'What an absolute idiot is Lidia Thorpe,' wrote one.
'A total embarrassment to parliament and those she claims she represents.'
Another commented: 'Racist, anti-Australian, hate speech spewing trolls like you have no place in government and should be behind bars.'
'How childish Lidia... Another look at me moment for you. Can you please tell me one good thing you've done for indigenous Australians?' a fourth said.”
With the Aboriginal voice referendum woke frenzy getting under way, see this as the opening act.
