Covid tyranny is in full-swing in highly vaccinated Europe. In Germany, the Covid incident rate is reaching new highs, even with the vax, so it looks like it will be a return to lockdowns. But, not to be beaten in the Covid madness stakes, Austria is moving to gain the distinction of being the first country in the world to lockdown only the unvaccinated! I suppose that the next step will be Covid concentration camps, something like that proposed in Australia. It may become hard to differentiate between the two countries down the track.
“Three German state health ministers urged parties negotiating to form a new government to prolong states' power to implement stricter pandemic measures such as lockdowns or school closures as the country's seven-day COVID incidence rate hit record highs.
The number of people per 100,000 infected last week rose to 277.4, data from the Robert Koch Institute showed on Saturday, and has risen to over 500 in some regions of the country.
The head of Germany's largest doctors association Marburger Bund told German media group Funke Mediengruppe that overburdened intensive care units may need to move patients between regions to find beds in coming weeks.
The federal government and leaders of Germany's 16 states are due to discuss new pandemic measures next week, but the three parties negotiating to form a new government have agreed to let a state of emergency, in place since the start of the pandemic, expire on Nov. 25 as planned. read more
But state health ministers of Baden-Wuerttemberg, Hessen and Brandenburg argued that states needed to keep the option open of implementing policies which required a state of emergency to enforce - such as curfews, lockdowns or school closures - if the situation worsened.
"In the face of the burden on hospitals, which in some regions are close to absolute overload, the epidemic status should be prolonged on a national level," the three health ministers said in a joint statement on Saturday.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel urged unvaccinated people to reconsider their decision in a video message on Saturday morning. She also called for stronger enforcement of rules requiring a negative test, vaccination or proof of recovery before entering closed spaces, and faster rollout of booster vaccines.
"Difficult weeks lie ahead of us, and you can see that I am very worried," Merkel said, speaking in her weekly video podcast. "I urgently ask everyone who has not yet been vaccinated: please reconsider."
The German army is preparing to mobilise 12,000 soldiers by Christmas to assist overrun healthcare services, Spiegel newspaper reported, and will provide booster vaccinations and tests in care homes and hospitals.
So far, 630 soldiers have been deployed, Spiegel reported. The army was not immediately available for comment.
Europe has become the epicentre of the pandemic again, prompting some governments to consider re-imposing unpopular lockdowns.”

“On Sunday, Austria may become the first country in the world to impose a lockdown on just the unvaccinated among its population. Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg said a final decision will be made over the weekend.
The Austrian government will make a determination on the two-tier lockdown system on Sunday, Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg said on Friday. He added that the decision will be made following meetings with the governors of Austria’s nine provinces.
Upper Austrian Governor Thomas Stelzer has already sought permission from the government to lock down his province from Monday onwards. The area is currently recording more cases of Covid-19 than any other province, a situation Stelzer described as “dramatic,” according to the Austrian Press Agency.
The idea of a nationwide lockdown exclusively targeting the unvaccinated was first floated by the government in September, and designed to enter effect when 30% of ICU beds became occupied by Covid patients. That number currently stands at just over 20% and rising.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Schallenberg was clear about how restrictive the lockdown would be for the unvaccinated. “One cannot leave one's home unless one is going to work, shopping (for essentials), stretching one's legs – namely exactly what we all had to suffer through in 2020,” he stated.
Some 3.1 million Austrians – around 35% of the population – are not fully vaccinated. The country’s vaccination rate is one of the lowest in Europe, and Schallenberg described the lackluster jab takeup as “shameful.”
Should the government in Vienna go ahead with the lockdown plan, Austria would be the only country in the world to impose a lockdown solely on the unvaccinated. Other countries have used similarly heavy-handed methods to force compliance with the jab, however. In the US, the Biden administration has pressed private employers to fire staff who refuse the vaccine; so-called ‘vaccine passports’ are commonplace throughout Europe for entering bars, restaurants, and entertainment venues; and in New Zealand, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has explicitly backed a 'two-tier' system of freedom for the vaccinated and restrictions for the unvaccinated.
Austria’s pandemic-related restrictions are opposed in the national parliament by the right-wing Freedom Party, and locally by the newly formed People, Freedom, Rights party.”
However, Russia looks like being the nastiest of them all, perhaps drawing inspiration from the days of the USSR and KGB, and Putin would remember all of this. Putin should not be respected by the dissent right, he is just as dangerous as the rest of them.

“Russia could be set to introduce some of the toughest Covid restrictions in the world, including a sweeping QR-code mandate for adults, if a draft law is passed by the country’s parliament.
The proposed law would require QR-code Covid passes to enter stores, cultural venues and cafes until June 1, 2022 – but would not come into effect until February.

According to Golikova, the QR passes will certify not only vaccination against the coronavirus, but also confirmation of recovery (and therefore natural immunity), or a medical exemption. She said the document would be secure and hack-proof.
Regional governments will have the final say on whether to require QR-code passes at all in their jurisdictions, and at which venues, aside from those specified above.
As of Friday, there have been 8,992,595 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Russia since the start of the pandemic, and more than 247,000 deaths linked to the disease.”
