Very sadly, a 34-year old woman has died from blood clotting, thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome following receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine. My daughter was put under pressure from her doctor, a vaccine fanatic and true-believer, to get the AstraZeneca jab, and she is the same age as the woman who died from TTS. She refused on the grounds that she did not want to face this risk. Her doctor said that the probability of getting hit by a truck is greater than getting TTS. She said that she almost had an accident with a truck, or at least a van, coming to the clinic, and was not convinced by this argument. Who will look after the kids if I die or get incapacitated? Is there a no-fault compensation scheme to pay the bills? She did not ask, being polite, about whether he would the pay the bills if she had an terrible adverse effect, or if he could be sued for administering the injection that did harm.
The doctor did not know about compensation and did not really care, being concerned only with jabbing, almost as if he was getting a cut too (of course not)! Anyway, without research my guess is that there is none; certainly, the vaccine companies are well protected from litigation. The same rule does not get applied to any other product, like cars and guns. Perhaps it may become impossible in the future to see a doctor without a vaccine passport. But, will it really matter all that much?
“If a person in Australia believes they have been injured by a vaccine, including future COVID-19 vaccines, they will need to pursue compensation through the legal system.
Under the latest agreement, it would appear the government, rather than the drug company, would pay that compensation, should the person win their case.
However this is not ideal. The person still has to engage with the legal system, which is both costly and complex, and there’s no guarantee of success.
Compensation may not even be possible via our legal system. That’s because in most cases, it will be difficult to show in court a serious side-effect was due to a fault in the vaccine composition or negligence in the way it was administered.
So in Australia, people with a vaccine injury, either COVID-19 or other vaccine, will likely bear the costs of their injury by themselves, and seek treatment by our publicly-funded or private health systems.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme helps fund therapies for people with a permanent and significant disability but does not cover temporary vaccine-related injuries.”

“I've had an adverse reaction to a vaccine. Can I get compensation?
It depends.
Unlike about 25 other countries, including the United Kingdom and the United States, Australia does not have a no-fault vaccine injury compensation scheme.
Clare Eves, the head of Shine Lawyers' medical practice division, says Australians have very few rights of recourse if they have a serious adverse reaction to a vaccine administered correctly.
"We have had people in the past who've attended our office who've had a serious neurological adverse outcome from the flu vaccine for example, like Guillain-Barre syndrome. If they are in that really small minority, there's very little that they can do in terms of accessing compensation or support," Ms Eves says.
She says people may have rights to recourse if there's a "fault" in the way the vaccine has been produced or administered, if it's been tampered with, or it's found to be unsafe for general use.
She stresses getting a vaccine from a "bad batch" is quite rare.
"Classic cases" where a person may have a case, she says, include where someone has been given a wrong dose, taken a vaccine orally when it shouldn't be given orally, or had a vaccine injected straight into the bloodstream instead of into the muscle.
"All vaccines have risks, and somebody's got to be that unlucky person that the risk falls upon," Ms Eves says.
The federal government has signed indemnity deals with two COVID-19 vaccine suppliers, including the University of Oxford, for the AstraZeneca jab, against liability for rare side-effects.
The details of the deals are unclear, but it appears the government would cover the bill for compensation if a member of the public won legal action against the drug company.”
“A 34-year-old NSW woman has died from a confirmed case of rare blood clotting following a first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
The woman, who received the dose yesterday, was confirmed to have suffered thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome or TTS.
She was named in the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) COVID-19 weekly safety report released today, which said approximately 6.8 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine have been administered in Australia up until August 1 2021.
"Sadly, a 34-year-old woman from NSW died yesterday from confirmed TTS following a first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine," the TGA states in its report.
"The TGA extends its sincerest condolences to her family and loved ones. We are in close communication with NSW health who are undertaking further investigation of this case."
The TGA said reports of suspected side effects to the vaccine are "generally consistent with what is being observed internationally".
Since the beginning of the vaccine rollout to August 1, the TGA has found seven reports of deaths were likely to be linked to immunisation from 425 reports received and reviewed.
Six of the deaths which occurred after the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine were confirmed to be TTS cases and one was a case of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP).
"The TGA reviews all deaths reported in people who have received the vaccination. We also monitor the database of reports for signals that may relate to vaccine safety to distinguish between coincidental events and possible side effects of the vaccine," the TGA stated in its report.
"So far, the observed number of deaths reported after vaccination remains less than the expected number of deaths that would occur naturally, or from other causes, for that proportion of the population."”
But, that is not the point. Those people still died from the vaccine, and that is in addition to the expected number of natural deaths.
