To THE AUSTRALIAN South African white farmers and their families are ideal immigrants for Australia ('South African dreams taking root in our safer soil', 9/5) and Immigration Minister Peter Dutton is right to champion their cause. It is now clear that the destruction last century of the Portuguese presence in Africa, of independent Rhodesia and of apartheid South Africa has brought disaster to southern Africa - and it is not only the white minority who suffer murder, violence and corruption.
Idealistic and fanatical ideology about 'racial equality' played a large part in the catastrophe. Far from opposing the facilitation of entry into Australia for the persecuted whites (farmers and others), left-wing agitators in Australia need to admit the philosophical and scientific errors that led to the collapse of law and order. And the rest of us need to work harder to prevent a comparable dismantling of traditional Australia with its justice, freedom and protections.
