Banning the Bible? By Charles Taylor

Evil lives in California. I wondered how long it would be before the Bible, or the bulk of, it was banned. Now I wonder no more, for in California, anything evil is possible:

“A new bill put forth by some members of the California legislature threatens to eliminate access to certain passages of the Bible that deal with sexuality and morality. Assembly Bill 2943 would amend Sections 1761 and 1770 of California’s Civil Code to basically outlaw the sale of any goods, including religious texts, that deal with issues related to sexual orientation and gender. In legal terms, the legislation would make it an “unlawful business practice” to engage in “a transaction intended to result or that results in the sale or lease of goods or services to any consumer” that in any way advertises, offers to engage in, or does engage in “sexual orientation change efforts with an individual.”

In other words, passages like Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 would presumably have to be edited out of all new Bibles sold at Christian bookstores throughout California in order for them to continue to be sold in the state. And such drastic, crushing changes would all happen, of course, under the guise of protecting LGBT “human rights” and promoting “tolerance.” The bill is very specific in defining “sexual orientation change efforts” as “any practices that seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation. This includes efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions, or to eliminate or reduce sexual or romantic attractions or feelings toward individuals of the same sex.” The bill’s principal co-authors – most of whom are women, many of whom identify as homosexuals themselves, and all of whom are Democrats.”

Hopefully, this can be knocked over as a constitutional infringement of the First Amendment. Either way, we can be sure that nothing will be done about passages in the Quran, and nor should anything be done to restrict their religious freedom. But, Christians should have equal rights. Hands up who thought it would get this bad, this quickly?
