Just before the latest moral outrage over Trump by the liberal/Left/progressives, there was the previous move, still going, to impeach Trump because he is, according to the progressives, “insane.” Here, for example is one report:
“A psychiatrist has called for Donald Trump to be physically detained for an “emergency” mental health evaluation, sparking a debate about the professional ethics of “armchair” diagnosis.
Dr Bandy Lee, assistant professor in forensic psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine, met with a dozen Democratic politicians last month to “brief” them on Mr Trump’s fitness for office — despite never having met or evaluated the US President".
“Lawmakers were saying they have been very concerned about this, the President’s dangerousness, the dangers that his mental instability poses on the nation,” Dr Lee told CNN last week.
It came as Mr Trump fired off a series of tweets accusing the media of “taking out the old Ronald Reagan playbook and screaming mental stability and intelligence,” branding himself a “very stable genius”.
In October, Dr Lee co-authored a book called The Dangerous Case Of Donald Trump, a compilation of 27 essays by psychiatrists and mental health experts offering the view that Mr Trump “presents a clear and present danger to our nation”.
Dr Lee joins a chorus of left-wing media outlets and commentators calling for Mr Trump to be removed under Section 4 of the 25th Amendment of the US Constitution, which allows for the Vice President to take over if he and a majority of Cabinet secretaries decide the President is “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office”.
All this smacks of a Soviet Union/ commo China-like abuse of psychiatry, and arm chair diagnosis. Here is what Professor Alan Dershowitz wrote about this ugly trend by the Left, today:
“On the basis of my research and writing, I find it unprofessional, unethical, and absurd for any mental health professional who has not examined President Trump to offer a diagnosis or psychiatric prediction about him.
We are all entitled to our opinions regarding the president’s political and personal qualifications to serve. I voted for Hillary Clinton in the last election because I felt she was more qualified than Donald Trump to be president. That is my right as an American voter. But psychiatrists and other mental health professionals have no more right to pathologize a president or a candidate because they disagree with his or her political views than do prosecutors or politicians have a right to criminalize political opponents. I have been writing in opposition to the criminalization of political differences for decades, because it is dangerous to democracy. It is even more dangerous to pathologize or psychiatrize one’s political opponents based on opposition to their politics.
Getting mental health professionals to declare political opponents mentally ill was a common tactic used against political dissidents by the Soviet Union, China, and apartheid South Africa. Perfectly sane people were locked up in psychiatric wards or prisons for years because of phony diagnoses of mental illness.”

That seems to be fair and reasonable comment. The progressive elites pushing the impeach-because-insane line, are saying that anyone who opposes them is insane, and that there can be no opposition to their worldview. But, they should reflect, that if their opponents did decide to make a “last stand,” and no longer be afraid of losing life and limb, there would be nothing they could do. Set off atomic bombs? War with Russia? Go ahead, for you all burn too. Extended tyranny may bring on this “last stand” attitude, and they should be careful about pushing too hard, too fast. After all, the strength of the Left has always been in the Fabian strategy of the inevitability of gradualism. That will all fall apart if even a sizable amount of the population feels that there is nothing left to save, and nothing more to lose. Push will then lead to shove, sadly:
Ironically, if psychiatry is to be used, then professional diagnosis of the Left, may yield conclusions that they are insane, and always have been.
