The present shutdown of the US government over the wall funding needs to be seen in the light of how the US spends its money, money that should go to national security. Thus, US $ 10.6 billion is going to South American countries as overseas aid. Beyond that, US $ 100 billion was secured for disaster relief over the past three years, but there is no money to deal with the immigration disaster.
