The gun banners continually rattle on about the loss of lives from guns, but if they were sincere they would be accounting for lives saved by guns. They could still argue on balance that guns are bad, but at least then they would be honest. Anyway, for what it is worth, here are some rennet stories where people with guns survive the onslaught of bad guys, where the police would not have reached them in time. Sometimes, it is even off duty cops who have to defend themselves.
