More on the Myth of Black Athletic Superiority By John Steele

My previous piece on this topic, reproduced an article by American martial artist, James LaFond, that there is no superior race re athletics.

The idea that Blacks are superior athletes, while having lower average IQs is the position standardly taken by so-called Race realist publications such as American Renaissance, as I suppose some sort of consolation prize, and to parry, always unsuccessfully the racist charge. The latest race realist book on this is by Edward Dutton and Richard Lynn, Race and Sport: Evolution and Racial Differences in Sporting Ability, (Ulster Institute for Social Research, London, 2015). As soon as I saw the Lynn name, I could predict that whites would be coming up second best.

Naturally evolution wins the day as an explanation of Black success, but sport is a dark area, so to speak, with the presence of performance enhancing drugs, such as steroids, part of the modern system. Thus, a third of medals in endurance events at the Olympics and World Championships between 2001 and 2012 were won by athletes who delivered suspicious tests, probably having masking drugs present, in an attempt to chemically cover-up what they were on.

There is also the issue of racial quotas, where excellent white basketballers and footballers do not get a chance.

In any case getting down to the biochemistry, which is what racial realists want, Blacks do not, on average have higher testosterone levels compared to other races, something thought to account for athletic superiority, and other things:

Context: Higher testosterone in black compared with white men has been postulated to explain their higher prostate cancer incidence. Previous studies comparing hormone levels by race might have been limited by size, restricted age variation, or lack of representation of the general population.

Objective: Our objective was to compare serum testosterone, estradiol, and SHBG concentrations among non-Hispanic black, non-Hispanic white, and Mexican-American men.

Participants, design, and setting: A total of 1413 men aged 20+ yr and who attended the morning examination session of the Third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES III) in 1988-1991 were included in this cross-sectional study.

Measurement: Serum hormone concentrations were measured by electrochemiluminescence immunoassays.

Results: After applying sampling weights and adjusting for age, percent body fat, alcohol, smoking, and activity, testosterone concentrations were not different between non-Hispanic blacks (n = 363; geometric mean, 5.29 ng/ml) and non-Hispanic whites (n = 674; 5.11 ng/ml; P > 0.05) but were higher in Mexican-Americans (n = 376; 5.48 ng/ml; P < 0.05). Non-Hispanic blacks (40.80 pg/ml) had a higher estradiol concentration than non-Hispanic whites (35.46 pg/ml; P < 0.01) and Mexican-Americans (34.11 pg/ml; P < 0.01). Non-Hispanic blacks (36.49 nmol/liter) had a higher SHBG concentration than non-Hispanic whites (34.91 nmol/liter; P < 0.05) and Mexican-Americans (35.04 nmol/liter; P < 0.05).

Conclusions: Contrary to the postulated racial difference, testosterone concentrations did not differ notably between black and white men. However, blacks had higher estradiol levels. Mexican-Americans had higher testosterone than whites but similar estradiol and SHBG concentrations. Given these findings, it may be equally if not more important to investigate estradiol as testosterone in relation to diseases with racial disparity.”

In terms of overall strength and power, examining the world’s strongest men for the past 40 years indicates that Blacks have seen in the absolute minority of medal winners.

This is also true for South Africa, where Blacks constitute the majority of the population”

While Blacks have dominated running events such as the 100 metres, power sports such as wrestling, have not been. Power lifting and Olympic lifting have been dominated by Whites, on most weight divisions. Blacks have an unquestionable speed advantage due to narrower hips, which also gives impressive visual appearances in so-called sports such as body building, but there still have been white world record sprinters, especially for women. Ultra-marathons are well represented by all races, including Asians. Asians and Whites dominate gymnastic events, with Asian females doing particularly well.

In short, the previous conclusion that there is no athletic master race is affirmed. All races do well in particular areas, and Blacks do not dominate, contrary to the mainstream media, and even some so-called racial realists.
