Do Not Throw Stones at an Islamic Hornet’s Nest! By James Reed

After the beheading of the school teacher over the Muhammad cartoons, one would have thought that the issue is not about free speech, which has gone, but survival. It is obvious, given similar murders in the past, that throwing petrol on the Islamic fire is not going to put it out. If you offend these people then watch out! I think that an attitude of respect should be adopted, even by anti-immigrationists. Simply don’t insult people’s religion; have all the intellectual objections you want, but if you get down and dirty with pathetic cartoons designed to be inflamatory, then there are consequences.

“A Turkish government minister has called French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo “b*stards” and “sons of b*tches” over a new satirical cartoon showing President Erdogan in his underwear.

The frontpage cartoon of the magazine, which features Erdogan in his underwear looking at the bare bottom of a woman in an Islamic veil and bears the caption “in private he is very funny”, has earned the anger of the Turkish leader, who has now threatened legal action.

On Wednesday, the Turkish presidency’s communications directorate released a statement on the subject of the cartoon, according to Le Monde, saying: “The necessary legal and diplomatic actions will be taken against the said cartoon.”

Vilifying a powerful Islamic head of state, is simply insane, and in fact, infantile. Erdogan deserves strong criticism, but it should be intellectually based, not wasted on high school level smut.

Post script: after writing this, the next morning we see yet another beheading, and two others dead, confirming what I wrote:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-10-29/france-nice-knife-attack-three-dead-several-injured/12828942

“France has lifted its security alert status to the highest level after a knife-wielding attacker shouting "Allahu Akbar" killed three people in a church in the city of Nice

  • Emmanuel Macron declared France was under attack and ordered troops onto the streets
  • The attacker has been identified as a Tunisian national
  • The display of cartoons of Mohammed in France has sparked anger in the Muslim world

A defiant President Emmanuel Macron, declaring that France had been subject to an Islamist terrorist attack, said he would deploy thousands more soldiers to protect important French sites, such as places of worship and schools.

Speaking from the scene, he said France had been attacked "over our values, for our taste for freedom, for the ability on our soil to have freedom of belief".

"And I say it with lots of clarity again today: we will not give any ground."

Tough talk, but it won’t stop the attacks. Really, one creates a multicultural society composed of people, not blaming them, who are not liberals, but have traditional non-Western values, then expect conformity to liberalism. Sow the wind, reap a whirlwind.

The city of Nice, now not so nice!
