Plandemic! What Corona Conspiracy Fans, Like Me, Believe! By James Reed

Unlike the carefully researched and ever-balanced coverage of our science-minded Brian Simpson, I am the boots and all Alex Jones type of raving conspiracy type. Well, we need balance. I believe that many of the shootings in the US, and those that we are permitted to talk about, without punishment, were false flags. And, the corona virus, well that is just a pussy cat. And, if it is not, then it is still a conspiracy, involving the pre-established harmony of balancing every government in the world, including Iran and Saudi Arabia, somehow getting them to call time out from the usual fighting, and all health care workers … look this guy has done my work for me, in stating the incredible logical implications of my world view, better than me:

“Oil rich countries wanted a barrel of oil to cost less than a New York pizza. The wealthy wanted trillions of dollars to be wiped out in financial markets. The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom faked his brush with death.
Politicians have conspired to destroy the middle class for they can run for reelection on a platform of mass death, economic collapse and the loss of individual freedom. The state governors who imposed lockdowns to create a permanent police state are already reopening their states for business less than a month later. Life is returning to normal in Wuhan where even the Chinese Communist Party isn’t enforcing a permanent lockdown. Globalists secretly wanted the airlines to go bankrupt for they could be grounded for a change. They wanted international travel to grind to a halt. They wanted the European Union and Canada to close their borders. They wanted to shutdown immigration in the United States. Globalists secretly wanted to get rid of our consumer society and to discredit globalization after decades of neoliberalism. The Deep State secretly wanted over a million Americans to be infected by the coronavirus for American leadership could be discredited on the global stage as the president of the United States recommends injecting disinfectant to the treat the virus in front of the world. China which was making a fortune off globalization wanted to bring its decades long streak of economic growth to a halt in the middle of a public relations catastrophe. SARS-CoV-2 is a bioweapon which escaped from the lab in Wuhan but fortunately it is just the flu so it really isn’t that bad. The WHO is conspiring with Bill Gates by rejecting immunity passports. The WHO is covering up the fact that the virus is “just the flu.” It failed to notify the world early enough that we were due for a normal flu season. The real threat isn’t the virus that has killed 59,000 Americans. It is a nonexistent vaccine for it. 5G is causing all the deaths from the coronavirus which is why South Korea has been devastated by 246 coronavirus deaths.”

The Swedish Model, Way to Go! By Brian Simpson

President Trump has been hammering the Swedish model, but even the World Health Organization has praise for it, since Sweden, while having a moderate number of cases, suffered little economic damage as did the rest of the West:
  https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-swedens-lockdown-who-praise

“President Trump on Thursday took aim at Sweden’s decision to not order lockdowns in response to the coronavirus epidemic, claiming the U.S. made “the correct decision” after the World Health Organization praised the Scandinavian country’s more moderate approach. “Despite reports to the contrary, Sweden is paying heavily for its decision not to lockdown. As of today, 2462 people have died there, a much higher number than the neighboring countries of Norway (207), Finland (206) or Denmark (443),” he tweeted. “The United States made the correct decision!” Sweden has implemented a number of social distancing measures but has, by and large, kept its economy and daily life going, leaving schools, businesses and leisure activities open while closing sporting events and large gatherings. Despite warnings from experts that the strategy could have deadly consequences, the country's approach has become a talisman for lockdown skeptics who say the strategy was misguided and unnecessarily harmful. A New York Times story on Sweden’s approach this week, filled with pictures of Swedes sipping wine in cafes and chatting (maskless) at restaurants, noted that the country’s death rate per 100,000 is about the same as Ireland’s, and better than Britain’s or France’s. While locked down Americans and Europeans are being warned that severe restrictions could last for much longer than previously promised amid fears of a "second wave," Sweden’s ambassador to the U.S. said last week that “herd immunity” -- by which most of the population is immune from infection -- could be achieved in Stockholm by mid-May. Those, like Trump, who criticize the approach, highlight that the number of deaths from the virus is high compared with other Scandinavian countries. But lockdown skeptics note that the original goal of the strategy was not to stop people getting infected altogether but to slow the spread of those infections in a way that doesn’t immediately overwhelm a country’s health care system. Sweden’s health care system has so far not been overwhelmed.

Biology Destroys Neo-Liberalism By Brian Simpson

Thinkers are already speculating about the effects of the second rounds of Covid-19, while of course, the Dissent Right is still divided as ever. There are even debates about the method of transmission, with some thinking it could be highly airborne, travelling on air pollution particles:
  https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/scientists-find-more-evidence-novel-coronavirus-can-travel-air-pollution-particles

“Now, a team of researchers who have been studying air pollution levels in Italy's Bergamo Province have found more evidence that the virus can travel on air pollution particles, the Guardian reports, which might offer some insight into the issue. Leonardo Setti at the University of Bologna in Italy, who led the work, said it was important to investigate if the virus could be carried more widely by air pollution.  am a scientist and I am worried when I don’t know,” he said. “If we know, we can find a solution. But if we don’t know, we can only suffer the consequences." To be sure, while the scientists found evidence of viral genetic material on air particles, the research offers no insight on whether these particles can actually transmit the virus in a way that would allow it to infect other humans. Here's more from the Guardian: The Italian scientists used standard techniques to collect outdoor air pollution samples at one urban and one industrial site in Bergamo province and identified a gene highly specific to Covid-19 in multiple samples. The detection was confirmed by blind testing at an independent laboratory. […]

Trump Rediscovers that Globalism Does Not Work By Charles Taylor

While Trump back in 2016, gave speeches against globalism, written by Steve Bannon, who was then quickly disposed of after the election, as Trump moved his son-in-law into the main ruling position, he seems to have learnt a few things about globalism and national strategic control, mainly of supply chains. It does not make much sense to let bitter rival, commo China, make your vitals:
  https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/04/19/donald-trump-coronavirus-exposed-dangers-of-supply-chains-dependent-on-china/

“President Donald Trump said Saturday the biggest lesson of the coronavirus crisis was that the United States should not rely on China for their supply chains. “We’ve learned a lot about supply chains,” Trump said. “We’ve learned that it’s nice to make things in the U.S., I’ve been saying that for a long time.” The president discussed the issue during the White House press briefing, recalling he ran for president on the dangers of America’s dependence on bad trade deals and foreign countries while gutting our country’s industries. “If one thing comes out of this more than anything else is that we should make product in the United States,” he said. Trump noted that he also promised as a candidate to be tough on China and successfully pressured them with tariffs to make an important trade deal. “With China, we made the deal, and it became friendly, but then this happened,” he recalled.”

Here Come the Famines of Biblical Proportions: UN By Brian Simpson

This is hot from our feathered friends at the UN today:

  https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2020/apr/21/coronavirus-pandemic-will-cause-famine-of-biblical-proportions

“Noting that the global spread of COVID-19 this year has sparked “the worst humanitarian crisis since World War Two”, Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP) David Beasley pointed to deepening crises, more frequent natural disasters and changing weather patterns, saying “we’re already facing a perfect storm”. As millions of civilians in conflict-scarred nations teeter on the brink of starvation, he said, “famine is a very real and dangerous possibility”. Mr. Beasley painted a grim picture of 135 million people facing crisis levels of hunger or worse, coupled with an additional 130 million on the edge of starvation prompted by Coronavirus, noting that WFP currently offers a lifeline to nearly 100 million people – up from about 80 million just a few years ago. “If we can’t reach these people with the life-saving assistance they need, our analysis shows that 300,000 people could starve to death every single day over a three-month period”, he upheld. “This does not include the increase of starvation due to COVID-19”.

Mindless Globalism By James Reed

What a sucker, deracinated cucked philosophy neo-liberalist globalism is, and the coronavirus pandemic has certainly shown that. Thus, mad globalist, and false nationalist, Trump, knew that there was a problem, when China began locking itself down, but he still did not close the border, being a mad globalist pro-immigration fanatic, just like the Democrats, - witness his kowtowing speech to India. It would have been possible to avoid the economic pain that is coming if cuck Trump could have had some nationalistic manhood and did what the Chinese did. Instead, he still kept open borders with China, until it was too late, consequently economically dooming the US economy, and the rest of the West, including Australia:
  https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/half-million-chinese-people-entered-america-height-covid-19-outbreak
  https://summit.news/2020/04/03/half-a-million-chinese-people-entered-america-at-the-height-of-the-coronavirus-outbreak/

“Around half a million Chinese people, some of them infected with coronavirus, entered America from December to February at the height of the COVID-19 outbreak, new figures show. The numbers, which were obtained from Commerce Department and U.S. Customs and Border Protection records, were compiled by ABC News. They show that in the three-month period when coronavirus was raging across China, 759,493 people entered the U.S. from China. This number included 228,000 Americans who were returning home, meaning that roughly half a million were Chinese citizens or people living in China who were visiting the U.S. for tourism, business or to see family. This number of people were pouring into the U.S. while the World Health Organization was simultaneously insisting that no country should enforce any kind of border controls to stop the spread of the virus. President Donald Trump restricted travel from China from February 2nd onwards, but that was too little too late because the outbreak (which was subsequently covered up by China for two months) had started in Wuhan in November, according to Johns Hopkins University. According to Dr. Vinayak Kumar, an internal medicine resident at the Mayo Clinic, out of the total figure arriving in the U.S. from China, “a large number might have been infected at the time of travel.” The numbers illustrate “how globalized our world has become,” he added. However, infectious disease specialist Dr. Simone Wildes suggested that the virus outbreak was the price of globalization and that Americans would just have to get used to it. “It shows that globalization is here, and we have to be better prepared to deal with the impact this will have on all our lives in so many ways,” he said. The data also shows that “From December, January and February on travelers entering the U.S. from eight of the hardest-hit countries: 343,402 arrived from Italy, 418,848 from Spain and about 1.9 million more came from Britain.”

The Virtual End of Globalisation! Ha! Ha! Told You So, New Class Elites! By James Reed

Greg Sheridan, who by his photo appears to have eternal youth, has lost faith in globalisation, previously losing faith in multiculturalism.  Well, the disease critique of globalism was made by various writers over the past 20 years or more (Garrett Hardin etc., The Social Contract guys etc.), so the arguments have been out there for a long time, and until now, ignored by the chattering class. Anyway, welcome aboard Greg, to the good ship, nationalism. I hope you don’t mind my smell, I don’t wash too much being dirt poor from globalisation, but we are now all in the life boats together, so let’s cuddle up against the coming winter chill of converging catastrophes, detailed by the late Guillaume Faye (1949-2019) in his book, Convergence of Catastrophes:
  https://www.amazon.com/Convergence-Catastrophes-Guillaume-Faye/dp/1907166467

“The thesis of this book is a terrifying one: our present global civilisation will collapse within twenty years, and it is too late to stop it. We shall regress to a 'New Middle Ages' akin to the fall of the Roman Empire, only much more destructive. For the first time in the whole of human history, certain 'dramatic lines', giant crises and catastrophes of immense proportions - already tangible - have emerged. They are converging and will most likely reach their zenith by 2020. Up to that time, as we have already been witnessing, their effects will continue to get worse, until a breaking point is reached. Guillaume Faye rigorously examines these escalating crises one by one: environmental damage and climate change; the breakdown of a speculative and debt-ridden globalist economy; the return of global epidemics; the depletion of fossil fuels and of agricultural and fishing resources; the rise of mass immigration, terrorism and nuclear proliferation; the worsening of the rupture between Islam and the West; and the dramatic explosion of a population of the elderly in the wealthy countries - all of it leading to an unprecedented worldwide economic recession, an increase in localised and possibly large-scale armed conflicts...and perhaps worse. Still, Faye reminds us, we should not give in to pessimism: what we are experiencing is not an apocalypse, but a metamorphosis of humanity. We might have reached the end of what the Hindu traditions refer to as the Kali Yuga, the 'age of iron' marked by materialism and selfishness, but those who survive the catastrophe and chaos will perhaps build a new and better humanity.”

Russia and Saudis Will Cut Oil if the US Will, But the US Can't, So No One Will, and US Shale Will be Crushed

Today there is a meeting by video of the OPEC states and Russia. Tomorrow the energy ministers of all G-20 states will likewise meet. Their discussions will be about the sinking global oil price caused by a lack of demand due to the novel coronavirus pandemic and record oil output from Saudi Arabia and Russia. 'Western' media have been optimistic that an agreement will be found: The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and other producers including Russia, a group known as OPEC+, are expected to discuss record cuts equivalent to 10% to 15% of global supplies, although demand has plunged by up to 30%. It is unlikely that OPEC will agree on any cut unless the U.S. and other large producers join the deal. The U.S. is, for now, unlikely to do that.

Still Made in China? By James Reed

Face masks still coming from China? Have a look at this and think about whether or not this is a good idea:
  https://www.taiwannews.com.tw/en/news/3907216
  https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/29/china-coronavirus-anti-foreigner-feeling-imported-cases

“Over the past few weeks, as Chinese health officials reported new “imported” coronavirus cases almost every day, foreigners living in the country have noticed a change. They have been turned away from restaurants, shops, gyms and hotels, subjected to further screening, yelled at by locals and avoided in public spaces. “I’m walking past someone, then they see my blue eyes and jump a foot back,” said Andrew Hoban, 33, who is originally from Ireland and lives in Shanghai. Experiences range from socially awkward to xenophobic. An American walking with a group of foreigners in a park in Beijing saw a woman grab her child and run the other way. Others have described being called “foreign trash”. A recent online article, under an image of ship stacked with refuse being pushed away from China’s coast, was headlined: “Beware of a second outbreak started by foreign garbage.” As China moves towards getting back to normal after months of paralysis, authorities are focused on avoiding a second wave of infections from overseas. In the last seven days, China has reported only six locally transmitted cases but dozens arriving from abroad. By last Thursday, officials had reported a total of 595 imported cases since the outbreak began, the main source being the UK. Observers say the focus on imported cases has led to an increase in anti-foreign sentiment, which according to some has been on the rise for years. “There is an effect when state media are reporting this is a foreign virus,” said Jeremiah Jenne, an American historian living in Beijing. “It is a new variation of a familiar theme: don’t trust foreigners. If there is another flare-up in China, the blame will fall on people coming from outside.” Last Saturday, the country temporarily closed its borders to all foreign arrivals. Officials have also ordered local airlines to maintain only one route per country per week. Some say the focus on foreigners – surprising given that 90% of imported cases were Chinese passport holders, according to the country’s foreign ministry – is the leadership’s attempt to shore up its image. “If there is an opportunity to make themselves look strong, competent and legitimate by capitalising on public anxiety, they’ll take it,” said Mike Gow, a lecturer at Coventry University’s School of Strategy and Leadership. “If that happens to stoke xenophobia, so be it.”

Moving Beyond “Made in China” By James Reed

Maybe, just, maybe, after the globalists have fully exploited the present biocrisis, there may be a tiny residue of nationalism still left, and at least some important drugs will be once again made in the West, and not China. I have heard nothing about this issue in passive Australia, but in the US, there is some movement at the front:
  https://www.project-syndicate.org/commentary/china-exploit-control-of-pharmaceutical-exports-by-brahma-chellaney-2020-03
  https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/03/25/watch-marsha-blackburn-end-the-control-the-madmen-in-beijing-have-over-americas-drug-industry/

“Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) called on the United States to rebuild its domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing capacity in order to end China’s monopoly on the drugs Americans rely on. “I encourage my colleagues to support the bipartisan Securing America’s Medicine Cabinet Act,” Blackburn said in a floor speech on Wednesday, as the Senate discussed the coronavirus relief bill. Blackburn opened her remarks by acknowledging the “gross malfeasance” of China’s communist regime in handling the coronavirus pandemic. “After we acknowledge Beijing’s gross malfeasance,” Blackburn said, “we’re going to adjust the way we think about China in the context of the economy, of our national defense, technology, human rights, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.”

Letter to The Editor - The virus and subsequent economic implications have also emphasised the need to be independent

Sent to Advertiser and Country papers

Dear Editor
The impact of the Covid 19 virus has reached every corner of society’s activities.  It has revealed some practices which could be changed to provide a benefit even beyond the current dilemma. A good deal of office computer work can be done at home.  The employee can receive work to be done and return it by email to the office.  This would reduce the need for travel to work by car or public transport providing immediate relief from traffic and parking problems. Another gain would be less emissions.  One day per week at the office would allow for personal interchange if necessary. The virus and subsequent economic implications have also emphasised the need to be independent and this applies from the individual right through to the State and nation.  We have become too dependent on foreign countries in all areas.  Problems have arisen when we depend on them to supply our needs and when they can no longer access our products.  The remedy will involve reconsideration of Australia’s commitment to schemes like the Lima Agreement (Agenda 21 etc) where we agree to allow our industries to go off-shore to assist developing nations.  Trade Agreements can have a similar effect. The negative side of globalisation has been clearly exposed.  Will we take heed?

Yours faithfully
Ken Grundy

Coronavirus Visits Italy: Pizza? By Brian Simpson

The coronavirus is marching through South Korea now, showing how ineffective communist China’s control mechanisms were. The bigger surprise is that Italy now faces the infection, with a quarantine of 12 towns, so the bug has reached Europe. Italy now has 132 cases of the virus infection, and rising.

Cold War 2.0 By James Reed

“It’s the world’s second largest economy in nominal GDP and, with 1.4 billion people, the most populous nation. It boasts the world’s largest military force with 2.2 million active personnel and another 510,000 in reserve. It has financially colonised much of the South Pacific, central Asia and Africa. Now it is buying influence in Europe, with heavy investments in Greece, including ownership of the port of Piraeus. China is home to the world’s most extensive expressways and high-speed railways. There are 298 airlines and 235 airports. According to Credit Suisse, for the first time there are more rich people in China than in the US. Of the world’s wealthiest 10 per cent, 100 million are Chinese, 99 million are American. China is also home to 12 of the 100 largest companies in the world. Yet the UN still recognises China as a “developing” country. At the World Trade Organisation, it enjoys the same “special and differential treatment” as Zimbabwe and Haiti. Naturally, Beijing sees no reason to give up this self-declared status, claiming the preferential treatment it enjoys is a “fundamental right”. Commerce ministry spokesman Gao Feng recently -described China as the “largest developing country in the world”. That it certainly is. The WTO does not define a developed or developing country. Nor does it provide benchmarks or guidance. This is left entirely to the discretion of -individual members.

Those Who Live by Globalism, Die by Globalism By James Reed

The World Health Organization has now declared the coronavirus epidemic a global pandemic. But it stopped short of advocating closing borders, although sensible countries like Russia, have already done so, and good for them:
  https://www.ft.com/content/75adafb6-4306-11ea-abea-0c7a29cd66fe
  https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/30/health/coronavirus-world-health-organization.html
  https://www.naturalnews.com/2020-01-30-w-h-o-declares-global-pandemic-coronavirus.html

“The World Health Organization declared on Thursday that the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak was a global health emergency, acknowledging that the disease now represents a risk beyond China, where it emerged last month. The decision reversed the organization’s decision just a week ago to hold off such a declaration. Since then, W.H.O. officials said, thousands of new cases in China and clear human-to-human transmission in several other countries — now including the United States — warranted a reconsideration of that decision by the agency’s expert committee. The W.H.O.’s declaration — officially called a “public health emergency of international concern” — does not have the force of law. But it serves notice to all United Nations member states that the world’s top health advisory body thinks the situation is grave. Governments then make their own decisions about whether to close their borders, cancel flights, screen people arriving at airports or take other protective measures.”

The Existential Threat of China By James Reed

I have been saying for a long time, that China is an existential threat to the West.  With respect to Australia, as I will detail in another article, some Australians are going to be lucky to even have enough water in the future. But for now, consider:
  https://www.breitbart.com/asia/2020/01/16/human-rights-watch-china-poses-existential-threat-rights-people-worldwide/

“An unchallenged China will herald in “a dystopian future in which no one is beyond the reach of Chinese censors, and an international human rights system so weakened that it no longer serves as a check on government repression,” Human Rights Watch warned in its annual report on the country published Wednesday. The 2020 China report from the non-governmental organization (NGO) accused both states friendly to China and corporations that do business with it of “enabling” China’s increased use of violence and systematic state repression to silence political dissidents, religious groups, and ethnic minorities. Human Rights Watch published the report shortly after Beijing banned its executive director, Kenneth Roth, from traveling to Hong Kong for an event to release it. Roth presented the report at an event in New York at the United Nations headquarters instead, despite the report being heavily critical of the U.N. as an institution. The report also attempted to criticize President Donald Trump for referring in friendly terms to Chinese dictator Xi Jinping, but ultimately conceded that “the Trump administration is one government that has been willing to stand up to China, best evidenced by its October 2019 imposition of sanctions on the Xinjiang Public Security Bureau and eight Chinese technology companies for their complicity in human rights violations.”

China Drinks Big on Queensland Water By Paul Walker

The resource war, especially the battle for water is now on, and China is making sure that it does not get thirsty. As for the local Aussies on water rations, well the governments will be doing all they can to do precisely nothing, and allow China first, second and third drink, as is the law of the New World Order:
  https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/jan/02/queensland-government-was-warned-about-risks-of-chinese-companys-water-extraction

“Queensland government experts raised repeated warnings about the long-term sustainability of groundwater extraction at a southern Queensland property which has since been approved to operate as a commercial water mine. The approval for the 96m litre a year bottled water extraction operation at Cherrabah – in a severely drought-hit area where locals are on water rations and communities at imminent risk of running dry – has raised significant questions about the oversight and regulation of critical water resources in Queensland. Documents obtained by Guardian Australia show how longstanding concerns about groundwater security at Cherrabah were overridden by changes to Queensland law enacted by Campbell Newman’s government in 2013. Under the changes, the Chinese-owned company Joyful View Garden Real Estate Development Resort Pty Ltd was automatically granted a 94-year extraction permit at Cherrabah when a short-term allocation expired in 2017. Written concerns outlined in the documents obtained by Guardian Australia include the expert review of a study commissioned by Joyful View in 2009 that was the basis for its subsequent water extraction applications. The study contained repeated qualifications that its modelling could not be relied upon for a period longer than 12 months.

Letter to The Editor

To The Northern Daily Leader

  Dear Sir/Madam

My memory is still long enough to remember that we (Australia) applied sanctions against Rhodesia for the "terrible" Smith regimes alleged repression of the people of that nation. Also against South Africa for same reasons.  Sanctions have been applied to other nations as well and it strikes me as odd that we have not applied sanctions on China and demanded “regime change” because of China's repression of her people’s. Have I missed something somewhere, is there a good reason for this or are we already a colony of China? So went a letter I sent and was published at least locally in Inverell 2 weeks ago. Today I read that there is a Communist China flag flying over a Police Station in Victoria. This as reported in On Target by James Reed and I commend watching the Andrew Bolte video clip. Note what he says that this flag does NOT necessarily represent those Chinese who came to Australia years ago. Also the fact that whilst that flag flies over our police station down there we see Chinese in Hong Kong standing their ground against a power they know to be completely undesirable, untenable for them for them to even contemplate, ie to be swallowed up by the totalitarian control of a state where the State is god. They have had a taste of freedom and know what is happening inside China, whilst here in OZ we have no idea what it is to live in a police state. Read Solzenitzen, it is happening here, ALL our political parties have sold us out, Why do we vote for them, to do so is to be complicit in the betrayal of our nation and our Christian heritage. We can only pray that our own people, especially those we call leaders and pastors in our churches will come to realize what we have BEFORE it is gone. This is what my words about the lies that blind in DYNOEMS is all about.

Scott Morrison: Glimmers of Nationalism? By James Reed

I was pleasantly, if not peasanty, surprised to read this glimmer of opposition to the New World Odour, sorry, Order, by our pm. Yes, the NWO even mentioned by name in the article, not an invention of my fervoured imagination. But it seems like only yesterday that when Eric Butler and Jeremy Lee spoke about the New World Order, the mainstreamers poo-pooed it, but now, well here you go:
  https://www.theaustralian.com.au/nation/politics/pm-slap-for-un-in-new-world-order/news-story/b9e5a5f5058d69c7e2ae449275770154

“Scott Morrison has declared his government will lead the charge in asserting the authority of nation states over unelected international -institutions, such as the UN. The Prime Minister, in a major foreign policy address to the Lowy Institute on Thursday evening, signalled Australia would seek to play a greater role in shaping a new economic and strategic world order. Mr Morrison’s speech was aimed squarely at the push by the UN to set the global agenda on issues such as climate change and refugee policies. As democratic nations increasingly band together to counter a rising China, Mr Morrison announced he would visit India and Japan early next year and Indonesia next month. Mr Morrison’s visit to Washington DC late last month sparked debate about how the nation should balance its relationship with the US and China, but he told the Lowy Institute it was not a “binary” equation. While Mr Morrison recognised the benefits the global economy had brought Australia, he declared that the ballot box should always be more powerful than international institutions. He warned that where elite opinion became disconnected from the mainstream of societies, it could foster a sense of resentment and disappointment. “(It is) an era of insiders and outsiders, threatening social cohesion, provoking discontent and distrust,” Mr Morrison said. He said Australia would partner with the international community through “practical globalism” and vowed to make fresh efforts to reshape inter-national rules, starting with a new audit of global institutions and rule-making processes. “We should avoid any reflex towards a negative globalism that coercively seeks to impose a mandate from an often ill-defined borderless global community. And worse still, an unaccountable internationalist bureaucracy,” Mr Morrison said. “Only a national government, especially one accountable through the ballot box and the rule of law, can define its national interests. We can never answer to a higher authority than the people of Australia.” He said Australia had played its part over the generations to build a better world through “co-operative and respectful internationalism”. But he warned that pragmatic international engagement was giving way to a new order that sought to “elevate global institutions above the authority of nation states to direct national policies”.

Ha! Ha! The Great International Student Bust Smashing the Universities! By James Reed

The evil, evil, more evil Australian universities may soon be facing showtime, because they have put all of their eggs in the one basket hoping that the international student market, read
“China,” will be a boom forever like the mining boom of a while back. The government rubs its dark claws together glad to be getting backdoor migrants. But, maybe not forever:

“Chinese international students are by far the biggest contributor to Australia’s education export industry. As at June 2019, there were 204,000 Chinese students enrolled in Australian educational institutions, comprising 29% of total international student enrolments. The number of Chinese international students studying in Australia is also roughly double second placed India (104,000) and quadruple Nepal (52,000), as illustrated in the next chart: Late last month, the Centre for Independent Studies (CIS) sounded the alarm on this dependence, warning that a sharp pullback in Chinese student numbers could severely damage the finances of Australia’s tertiary institutions: International comparisons reveal the excessiveness of this China exposure. All seven [major universities] have higher proportions of international and Chinese students than any university in the entire United States. Indeed, all seven appear to be more dependent on feepaying Chinese students than just about any other universities in the English-speaking world.
