Will China be Taking Our Oxygen next? Do We have the Right to Breathe? By James Reed

Here is more on water mining. This is the latest aspect of economic imperialism, as our governments give away vital water resources in the driest continent on earth:
  https://www.theaustralian.com.au/nation/politics/outrage-over-chinese-water-mine-plan-in-southern-downs/news-story/e6a5f4f0c1e7ca2e67acf25b934c82f6?fbclid=IwAR2MyxvczQY5LrJCRrDIi2WXZPNYsWAtJ0_iuOw_35EKn9MHHSTYcajP5ls

“Farmers and landholders in the drought-hit Southern Downs region of Queensland are furious over the lack of government and council opposition to a Chinese-owned company’s plan to mine nearly 100 million litres of local groundwater a year and sell it off, at a time when local towns are so dry they are relying on trucked-in water to keep their taps running. Southern Downs Regional Council last month voted to approve planned works associated with the project, which could take up to 96 million litres of water a year from an aquifer beneath the Cherrabah Resort near Warwick and truck it to the Gold Coast for commercial plastic bottling. The approval came as the council was preparing residents to get used to using just 80 litres of water per person a day and to adopt practices such as three-minute showers and washing clothes only every third day. The drought has drained the town of Stanthorpe of its water supply, leaving residents to rely on a convoy of trucks carting water from a dam 75km away. The Chinese-owned Royal Duke Holdings, operator of the Cherrabah Resort, has succeeded in winning approval for its groundwater mining venture on various conditions, including upgrading nearby roads. According to its application to council, the company wants to build a “water extraction and distribution facility” using underground water from a fractured rock aquifer and sell the product to commercial water bottlers on the Gold Coast.”

Inside the Eyes of Epstein By Charles Taylor, Florida

This is interesting, as unlike say 9/11, where actionists had to fight to get the good word out, the information about the murder of Jeff Epstein, who had girls as young as 11-years, for the 1 percenters to rape on his paedo island, keeps flowing.
  https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/01/16/pathologist-jeffrey-epstein-burst-capillaries-in-eyeballs-suggests-he-was-strangled/

“Dr. Michael Baden, a former New York City medical examiner, alleged Thursday that autopsy photos of Jeffrey Epstein show he had burst capillaries in his eyes, which is a more common occurrence with strangulation than with hanging. In a Dr. Oz clip obtained by the Daily Mail, Baden, who was hired by Epstein’s brother to observe the autopsy performed by New York City officials after the deceased pedophile’s death, said there are “red flags” suggesting foul play. Particularly, the pathologist pointed to the burst capillaries and Epstein’s legs not appearing purple — a coloration that often happens with hangings — as two occurrences that could raise questions about the once-high flying investor’s death. “In a hanging, the arteries and the blood vessels, the veins are both clogged off and the person is pale. The face is pale,” Dr. Baden told Dr. Oz. “It suffocates you, no blood goes up there,” Dr. Oz replied. “That’s right. No blood coming in or out… with a manual strangulation, there’s a backup of a pressure and the little capillaries can rupture and they’re best seen in the eye,” Dr. Baden responded. Dr. Baden then explained what concerned him about Epstein’s pale leg color. “The blood settles after we die. The so-called lividity, if your hanging, the lividity is on the lower part on the legs,” he said. “These would be like maroon/purple, front and back and they aren’t.” The pathologist went on to reiterate that the manner in which officials ruled Epstein’s cause of death was “very unusual.”

Truckers and the Coming Civil Wars By John Steele

It will probably not happen in Australia, which is likely to simply wither on the vine, but the US seems to be heading full throttle into Civil War 2.0. If so, looking at the vast human dung piles, literally in the case of San Francisco, Chicago and Baltimore, that US cities have become, I wonder how the population will eat, even if they have the money? After all, everything is trucked in to cities, and truckers do not want to be killed, or even have scratches on their precious rig, let alone bullet holes:
  https://www.survival.news/2020-01-06-truckers-coalition-warns-of-supply-chain-crisis-cities-war-zones-disruptions.html

“The Executive Director of the Small Business in Transportation Coalition (SBTC) — known as Truckers.com — has issued a stern warning about a “super supply chain crisis” that could severely disrupt trucking and transportation operations that bring supplies to all U.S. cities. James Lab issued a Dec. 17th press release in which he warned of “nationwide riots that will impede truckers’ ability to make deliveries of products for Americans’ consumption.” Those supplies include food, fuel, medicine, ammunition and other supplies on which Americans depend each day. This warning was issued a few weeks before President Trump’s drone strike on Soleimani — an event that many believe might set off activation of radical Islamic sleeper cells that have been embedded in U.S. cities, awaiting orders to strike critical infrastructure and cause mayhem. According to the SBTC’s press release, the authoritarian gun confiscation push of tyrannical Democrats in Virginia could, all by itself, “quickly escalate into armed conflict reminiscent of the Civil War.” As the announcement also states: Lamb fears the conflict… in Virginia could escalate and spiral out of control.

Vaccination Blues By Mrs Vera West

I don’t know if the death penalty by being drawn and quartered presently exists for criticising any aspect of vaccination, so just pretend that you have not read this:
  https://www.naturalnews.com/2020-01-09-vaccines-spread-infectious-disease-fully-vaccinated-children.html

“A new peer-reviewed scientific paper published in the journal Tropical Diseases, Travel Medicine and Vaccines has found that the DTaP vaccine for diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (whooping cough) is causing children who receive it to become more prone to contracting whooping cough later on in life. According to the study, children who receive the entire DTaP series of vaccinations are up to 15 times more likely to contract whooping cough at the five-year mark following these jabs compared to unvaccinated children, completely obliterating the myth that whooping cough outbreaks are the result of “anti-vaxxers.” As it turns out, the vast majority of children being affected by pertussis outbreaks are vaccinated children, which some health authorities are reluctantly admitting. Even so, pro-vaxxers are insistent that all disease spread is caused by unvaccinated children, despite the fact that science continues to prove otherwise. What’s more, the DTaP vaccine, along with many other vaccines, fails to provide permanent protection against disease – assuming they provide any protection at all. As reported in the same aforementioned DTaP study, pertussis antibodies experience a “rapid decline” in as little as 2-3 years post-vaccination, “often to pre-vaccination levels.” Even though antibody levels alone “are not necessarily indicative of waning immunity,” this same study goes on to explain, “in this case given the higher risk of infection after aP (acellular pertussis) vaccine with time, it is strongly suggestive of it.”

Should Fat People be Recycled Then? Obesity and the Sacred Cult of Carbon By James Reed

Here is the latest arrow shot oi the cultural war over carbon: that fat people produce too much carbon.  I thought at first, from flatulence, although I am skinny and eternally passing wind, sometimes in embarrassing situations, if I still had any pride. No, it is resource consumption:
  https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-7813435/Obesity-contributes-extra-700-MILLION-tons-carbon-dioxide-year.html

“Obese people generate an extra 700 million tons of carbon dioxide per year than those with 'normal weight', according to a new study. Research from The Obesity Society has revealed that obese people account for about 1.6 per cent of all man-made greenhouse gas emissions. This is due to a combination of higher metabolic rates and the environmental impact of both producing the food and the increased fuel required to transport obese people, according to the researchers. The society used greenhouse gas emission data, demographic data, and obesity prevalence statistics to estimate that obesity is responsible for 20 per cent more greenhouse gas emissions compared with people of a normal weight. Increasing average body size of people on Earth may further challenge attempts to reduce man-made carbon dioxide emissions, they say. 'Our analysis suggests that, in addition to beneficial effects on morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs, managing obesity can favourably affect the environment as well,' said Faidon Magkos, corresponding author of the paper and nutritionist at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark. 'This has important implications for all those involved in the management of obesity.'

More Goodness from Red Meat By Mrs Vera West

Here is another good article in defence on eating red meat, in a world where the nutritional content of plants has diminished for a variety of reasons, including long-term cold storage of vegetables:
  https://www.naturalnews.com/2019-12-21-diets-and-bone-health-can-eating-red-meat-prevent-multiple-sclerosis.html

“According to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, about one million adults over the age of 18 in the U.S. are affected by MS. Experts claim that risk factors for developing MS also include environmental factors such as low sun exposure, low vitamin D, and poor diet. However, evidence that links diet with MS risk remain inconclusive. (Related: Multiple sclerosis can be mitigated by making healthy lifestyle changes.) “Previous research suggests that a Mediterranean diet can help to reduce the risk of certain health issues, including cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer’s disease and dementia and improve overall life expectancy. However, there is inconclusive evidence to suggest a Mediterranean diet also reduces the risk of developing MS,” said lead author Lucinda Black, from the School of Public Health at Curtin University. Because of this, researchers from Australia aimed to examine the associations between a Mediterranean diet and the risk of a first clinical diagnosis of CNS demyelination. To do so, the research team gathered and analyzed data from the Ausimmune study, a multicenter, case-control study that examines the environmental risk factors for CNS demyelination. Data from this study included 282 cases of people with MS alongside 558 healthy control subjects. Black and her team used the alternate Mediterranean diet score (aMED) to measure the participants’ adherence to the diets, with 9 being the highest adherence and 0 being the lowest.

Menstrual Equity???? By Mrs Vera West

In various articles sitting on my worn-out laptop, waiting to be done, I will be covering the theatre of the absurd in the gender agenda. The claims are jaw dropping, so I will just give you the material, but beware that having one’s jaw drop to the floor, poses a tripping hazard:
  https://www.foxnews.com/us/aclu-tampons-mens-room-menstrual-equity

“The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is calling for men's restrooms to include tampons in order to prevent discrimination against "every person who menstruates." "While free menstrual products are not uniformly provided in women’s restrooms, they are almost never available in men’s restrooms, even for pay," the group said in a statement Tuesday. "Men’s restrooms are also less likely to have a place to dispose of these products conveniently, privately, and hygienically." The left-leaning legal group argued that it wasn't a "full or accurate portrayal" to say that women are the only ones who "menstruate, get pregnant, or breast feed [sic]." "Menstrual stigma and period poverty can hit trans and non-binary people particularly hard," the post read. The group linked to a legislative toolkit in which it advocated for regulation of menstrual products in public restrooms. The group also favors menstrual products in public shelters and schools. "Menstrual equity is a basic equity issue," the report read. "Just as we have regulated the provision of toilet paper and paper towels in public restrooms, so too should we do the same for menstrual products." This wasn't the first time the ACLU made a head-turning comment about gender. On "International Men's Day," the group declared that men could both get their periods and give birth.”

Blueberries for Your Heart By Mrs Vera West

Recently I have taken to eating a small bowl of blueberries, frozen, with coconut milk on them for dessert. It is delicious, and good for you, too:
  https://www.naturalnews.com/2019-12-08-blueberries-reduce-heart-disease-risk.html

“Long considered one of the best superfoods on the planet, blueberries have been found to have another ability up its antioxidant-rich sleeve: the ability to reduce the risk of heart disease. In a study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, researchers found that daily consumption of one cup of blueberries for six months improves arterial function and cholesterol levels in adults with metabolic syndrome. The study, conducted by researchers from the U.K. and the U.S., involved 138 overweight and obese adults aged 50 and older. The subjects all had metabolic syndrome, a cluster of conditions that includes high blood pressure, high triglycerides and high blood sugar, and raises the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes and heart disease. For the double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel study, the researchers randomly assigned the subjects into three groups: One group consumed one cup (150 grams) of blueberries daily. Another consumed the equivalent of half-a-cup (75 grams) of blueberries daily, while the last group consumed a placebo. Unsurprisingly, the group that consumed the greater amount of blueberries received the most number of improvements. “Our test showed that 1 cup of blueberries per day for six months generally improved the vascular environment by increasing the responsiveness of arteries to [produce] changes in blood flow, improving the flexibility of systemic arteries, and at the same time, increasing the concentration of good lipids and lipoproteins, like HDL, which removes potentially harmful fats from the bloodstream and arteries,” lead study author Peter Curtis said.”

The Foul Air of Canberra By James Reed

The air of Canberra is foul; no, that is a vast understatement, corrected by quantitative data. The air of Canberra, in parts, is 20 times above the hazardous level.
  https://www.canberratimes.com.au/story/6562383/air-quality-in-parts-of-canberra-20-times-above-hazardous-level/

“By midday on Wednesday, the air quality in Canberra's south reached a level more than 20 times above hazardous and the recorded index rating was higher than the world's most polluted cities. The dense smoke haze engulfed Canberra on Tuesday night from fires burning at the South Coast. Acting chief health officer Dr Paul Dugdale said on New Year's Day the capital experienced the worst air quality conditions since ratings began to be measured 15 years ago. Dr Dugdale said there were a dozen presentations to Canberra Hospital in the 24 hours to noon on Wednesday for smoke-related conditions. "It's a particularly difficult time for people with heart and lung conditions who are sensitive to smoke, our message to them is to follow your doctor's advice, take your medications and if you have got an asthma action plan, put that into effect," he said. All Canberrans were advised to avoid physical activity during the heavy periods of smoke. Emergency services fielded more than 150 calls to triple zero about the smoke and it set off more than 250 automatic smoke alarms across Canberra. ACT fire and rescue chief officer Mark Brown said crews responded to alarms at a range of premises including government buildings and hospitals. "Fire and rescue had to respond methodically to those buildings and investigate and reset all those alarms," he said. "It took a lot of resources and we actually didn't even finish the task until early this morning."”

China’s Organ Harvesting; The Silence of the Left By James Reed

The Left are vocal against soft targets, such as what remains of the White West, over immigration and border defence issues, but when it comes to mother China, well, they are quiet like little mice, or is it rats, on issues such as organ harvesting?
  https://quillette.com/2020/01/03/bloody-harvest-how-everyone-ignored-the-crime-of-the-century/

“In June of this year the China Tribunal delivered its Final Judgement and Summary Report. An independent committee composed of lawyers, human rights experts, and a transplant surgeon, the Tribunal was established to investigate forced organ harvesting on the Chinese mainland. These rumours have haunted the country for years—lurid tales of the fate suffered by members of the banned Falun Gong religion after being taken into police custody. Their organs, so the rumours go, are cut from their bodies while they are still alive, and then transplanted into waiting patients. The Tribunal examined these claims, extending the group of victims to include Uyghur Muslims (among others), and its findings were unambiguous. “On the basis of all direct and indirect evidence, the Tribunal concludes with certainty that forced organ harvesting has happened in multiple places in the PRC [People’s Republic of China] and on multiple occasions for a period of at least twenty years and continues to this day.” Further to this, “the PRC and its leaders actively incited the persecution, the imprisonment, murder, torture, and the humiliation of Falun Gong practitioners with the sole purpose of eliminating the practice of, and belief in, the value of Falun Gong.” The Tribunal was also able to conclude, “with certainty,” that the Communist Party has been responsible for acts of torture inflicted on Uyghurs. These acts were found to constitute crimes against humanity.

Eat Your Red meat – Or Maybe be Malnourished! By Mrs Vera West

As always, no nutritional advice given, only journalistic reporting of news. And on the anti-vegan front, the champions of red meat are fighting back, big time, with nutritionists saying that given the radical drop in nutritional value of our vegetables, red meat may be necessary, thus adding a new dimension to the debate:
  https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/red-meat-vital-part-of-diets-claims-expert/

“A dip in nutrition levels in plants and fish have made it more important than ever to eat red meat for health reasons, a professor of cardiovascular pharmacology has claimed. As more people turn to a meat-free died, and with the increasing popularity of a vegan lifestyle, advocates of red meat will use the UK's biggest farming conference to begin a fightback against veganism. Professor Alice Stanton, who teaches cardiovascular pharmacology at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, will tell the Oxford Farming Conference key nutrients in some fruits, vegetables and grains have dipped by up to 50% over 50 years. The professor is expected to say this is a result of farmers trying to meet demands for cheap foods. “For plant-based foods, there’s been drops in vitamins and key electrolytes by up to 50% over the past 50 years because of the genetic selection for large volume and uniformity of shape and appearance, so the things look good on the shelves. There hasn’t been selection for nutrient content,” she told the Observer newspaper. “Absolutely, we need to address greenhouse gas emissions. But I’m concerned about the dramatic reduction in red meat consumption being regarded as the solution,” she said. Eating red meat in moderation – “twice to four times a week” – was “protective against heart attacks, strokes and cancer”, while nutrients in red meat were vital for children in the first three years of life, she added. “I’m not against vegetarianism or veganism,” Stanton said. “It is possible to have a balanced diet with vegetarianism. It’s a little bit more challenging but still possible with veganism. However, it requires a lot of knowledge and effort, which doesn’t happen in the majority of the population. People don’t have time to invest in getting a really balanced diet through a range of plant-based foods.” The growth of alternative diets saw a drop of around £185 million in sales of red meat in 2019 with figures showing hundreds of thousands of people in the UK gave up meat for Veganuary. According to polls quoted by the Vegan Society, the number of vegans in Britain has quadrupled since 2014, increasing from 150,000 to 600,000.”

Who’s DNA is It? By Brian Simpson

This is pretty interesting: a man’s semen shows the DNA of his bone marrow donor after transplant; talk about genetic colonisation!
  https://interestingengineering.com/mans-semen-only-shows-dna-of-his-donor-after-bone-marrow-transplant?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=Article&utm_campaign=organic&utm_content=Dec10
  https://www.nytimes.com/2019/12/07/us/dna-bone-marrow-transplant-crime-lab.html

“Three months after his bone marrow transplant, Chris Long of Reno, Nev., learned that the DNA in his blood had changed. It had all been replaced by the DNA of his donor, a German man he had exchanged just a handful of messages with. He’d been encouraged to test his blood by a colleague at the Sheriff’s Office, where he worked. She had an inkling this might happen. It’s the goal of the procedure, after all: Weak blood is replaced by healthy blood, and with it, the DNA it contains. But four years after his lifesaving procedure, it was not only Mr. Long’s blood that was affected. Swabs of his lips and cheeks contained his DNA — but also that of his donor. Even more surprising to Mr. Long and other colleagues at the crime lab, all of the DNA in his semen belonged to his donor. “I thought that it was pretty incredible that I can disappear and someone else can appear,” he said. Mr. Long had become a chimera, the technical term for the rare person with two sets of DNA. The word takes its name from a fire-breathing creature in Greek mythology composed of lion, goat and serpent parts. Doctors and forensic scientists have long known that certain medical procedures turn people into chimeras, but where exactly a donor’s DNA shows up — beyond blood — has rarely been studied with criminal applications in mind. Tens of thousands of people get bone marrow transplants every year, for blood cancers and other blood diseases including leukemia, lymphoma and sickle cell anemia. Though it’s unlikely that any of them would end up as the perpetrator or victim of a crime, the idea that they could intrigued Mr. Long’s colleagues at the Washoe County Sheriff’s Department, who have been using their (totally innocent) colleague in IT as a bit of a human guinea pig.”

California Leads the Way in the Collapse By Chris Knight

We talk a lot about the coming social collapse here, but we are not the only ones, for much raw material can be found in mainstream sites, if one looks. Take California, the great liberal progressive experiment, for example:
  https://www.forbes.com/sites/michaelshellenberger/2019/09/12/why-california-keeps-making-homelessness-worse/amp/

“California is home to some of the world’s toughest environmental and public health laws, but skyrocketing homelessness has created an environmental and public health disaster. The 44,000 people living, eating, and defecating on the streets of L.A. have brought rats and medieval diseases including typhus. Garbage is everywhere. Experts fear the return of cholera and leprosy. And homelessness is making people violent. “We are seeing behaviors from our guests that I’ve never seen in 33 years,” said Bales. “They are so bizarre and different that I don’t even feel right describing the behaviors. It’s extreme violence of an extreme sexual nature. I have been doing this for 33 years and never seen anything like it.” Bales says he was one of the people who urged the US Government’s Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) to intervene. “We’ve been crying out for a National Guard-like response,” said Bales, whose church provides food, showers, and shelter to 1,350 people camped nearby. In 2016 Bales lost the lower half of his leg to a flesh-eating bacteria from contamination on Skid Row. How did things get so bad in California? The state has long prided itself on being humanistic and innovative. It is home to some of the world’s largest public health philanthropies, best hospitals, and most progressive policies on mental health and drug addiction. The Democrats have a supermajority. What went wrong? According to Bales and other experts, California made homelessness worse by making perfect housing the enemy of good housing, by liberalizing drug laws, and by opposing mandatory treatment for mental illness and drug addiction.

The Problem of Over-Sleeping? By Mrs Vera West

This one had me worried because I like to sleep in and usually take an after-lunch sleep to get me through the afternoon:
  https://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2020/01/02/too-much-sleep-increase-stroke-risk.aspx?cid_source=dnl&cid_medium=email&cid_content=art1ReadMore&cid=20200102Z1&et_cid=DM427181&et_rid=782187072

“While the pitfalls of too little sleep have been well documented, there are also risks of sleeping too much, which is generally defined as more than nine hours a night. Specifically, excessive sleep, along with long midday naps, may increase your risk of stroke, according to a Chinese study involving 31,750 people. It’s unclear exactly why excess sleep increases stroke risk, but long nappers and sleepers are more likely to have increased waist circumferences and inactive lifestyles, both of which are risk factors for stroke. However, other mechanisms could also be at play, as the relationship between sleep and cardiovascular health is complex and still being explored.

On Our Extinction Crisis By Peter West

With all the nonsense talk about extinction from climate change it is good that former presidential candidate Pat Buchanan is focusing on the real extinction threat facing the West, which is coming up real fast now. The death of the West is happening right now, in real time:
  https://buchanan.org/blog/our-real-existential-crisis-extinction-137964

“For many First World countries, there are more compelling concerns. High among them is population decline, and, if birth rates do not rise, the near-extinction of many Western peoples by this century’s end. Consider. The number of births in Japan fell in 2019 to a level unseen since 1874, around 900,000. But there were 1.4 million deaths for a net loss of 512,000 Japanese. An even larger loss in Japan’s population is expected this year. Japan’s population has been shrinking since 2007, when deaths first exceeded births by 18,000. And with 28% of its population over 65, and fewer births every passing year, Japan is aging, shrinking and dying — with no respite in sight. Across Japan, writes The New York Times: “Whole villages are vanishing as young people choose not to have children or move to urban areas … The Government estimates that the population could shrink by about 16 million people — or nearly 13 percent — over the next 25 years.” South Korea has an even lower birth rate, and its population is expected to start diminishing this year. But it is Eastern Europe where the population crisis is most advanced.

Doctors Selling Us Out! By Mrs Vera West

Doctors betraying us? Those warriors of health who once took an oath to put the health and welfare of the patient, first. To do no harm. Sure.

“GPs are being paid to hand over data on their client’s weight and alcohol use and patients are not being asked for their permission. The Federal Government is requiring doctors to hand over patient data to Primary Health Networks on 10 performance measures in return for a $50,000 a year taxpayer-funded practice incentive payment. The data is meant to be de-identified but the Australian General Practice Alliance (AGPA) said “the likelihood that it could be re-identified in the event of a breach is very high.” To qualify for the money GP practices must provide information on their patients’ diabetes status, smoking, weight classification, alcohol use and influenza immunisation status. The government wants to use the information to track the treatment and improve the management of patients with key chronic health conditions. Nine in ten GP practices have already handed over de-identified patient data and earned $20.3 million while 395 practices were granted an exemption over concerns about data security. Under the guidelines for the program GPs are meant to ask their patients for permission to transfer the data but this has not been happening and patients are not being given the chance to opt out. Asked whether patients permission was being sought Royal Australian College of General Practitioners president (RACGP) Dr Harry Nespolon said the short answer was “no”. The collection of the data was covered by legislation that allows doctors to collect quality assurance type data “as long as it’s de-identified you can do it”, he said. The AGPA however says history shows it is very easy to re-identify health data.In 2016 when the Department of Health released 30 years’ worth of Medicare data it took Melbourne University computer experts just three days to decrypt it. And medical appointment booking firm HealthEngine was recently caught passing on users’ personal information to law firms seeking clients for personal injury claims, AGPA Director and former AMA president Dr Mukesh Haikerwal said.

Burn the Earth to Save It! By James Reed

I knew nothing about biochar before reading this article, and now know a little more.
  https://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2019/12/08/sustainable-biochar-to-mitigate-global-climate-change.aspx?cid_source=dnl&cid_medium=email&cid_content=art1HL&cid=20191208Z1&et_cid=DM408117&et_rid=765837241

“The Importance of Soil Biology
As explained by Bates, soil microbes create what you might think of as a coral reef in the soil — a highly fertile area of water storage, air storage and nutrient storage that can nourish a wide variety of soil microbes. This soil biology makes for very nutrient-dense plants. That, in turn, allowed large civilizations to flourish in the Amazon. The charcoal also takes carbon from the atmosphere, sequestering it in the earth for long periods of time — thousands of years, typically, provided you don't use destructive agricultural processes such as tilling. So, this carbon sequestration benefits not only soils and plants but also the atmosphere. "Right now, at this point in time, we really need [carbon sequestration] for another reason; we need to have that timeout to give us some time to slow our emissions down, to go carbon-neutral. This is what you might call carbon-negative or a drawdown effect of carbon actually leaving the atmosphere, leaving the ocean and coming back into the land, where it had been, as fossil fuels, before."

Coronavirus in Faeces. Say it: Faeces, Not Theses By Brian Simpson

Apparently, the coronavirus can be transmitted through human faeces, and the media is having fun, like kids playing in mud for the first time, saying the word “faeces,” over, and over, and over again, with Freudian delight:
  https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2020/02/02/asia-pacific/science-health-asia-pacific/coronavirus-feces-risk-of-spread/#.XjzjbGgzaUk

“While doctors have focused on respiratory samples from pneumonia cases to identify coronavirus patients, they might have ignored a less apparent source of the spread: diarrhea. The novel coronavirus was detected in the loose stool of the first U.S. case — a finding that hasn’t featured among case reports from Wuhan, China, the epicenter of the outbreak. However, that doesn’t surprise scientists who have studied coronaviruses, nor doctors familiar with the bug that caused SARS. Diarrhea occurred in about 10 to 20 percent of patients afflicted with severe acute respiratory syndrome about 17 years ago and was the source of an explosive SARS outbreak in the Amoy Gardens residential complex in Hong Kong. SARS and Wuhan viruses bind to the same distinctly shaped protein receptors in the body that are expressed in the lungs and intestines, making these organs the primary targets for both viruses, said Fang Li, an associate professor of veterinary and biomedical sciences at the University of Minnesota. The discovery of the Wuhan virus, dubbed 2019-nCoV, in the fecal material of the 35-year-old man treated at the Providence Regional Medical Center Everett in Washington is “interesting,” said Scott Lindquist, the state epidemiologist for infectious disease at Washington’s Department of Health. “That adds to the knowledge about this,” he told reporters on a conference call Friday. “It’s not only excreted in your respiratory secretions, it’s also secreted in your stool.”

Stockpile Manuka Honey for the Collapse By Mrs Vera West

While the flavour of articles today is along the collapse line, I like to look positive and make homely suggestions for rebuilding, rather than swim in my own misery and self-pity. With the collapse of the medical system, as already seen in Venezuela, there is a need for self-reliance in medicine at a basic level, such a wound management. Here honey, and even sugar can help, things which have been used in war zones:

“Manuka honey is derived from the nectar of manuka (Leptospermum scoparium) trees, and it has an additional component to its potent antimicrobial activity. This unusual activity was discovered by Professor Peter Molan, in New Zealand in the 1980s, when he realised the action of manuka honey remained even after hydrogen peroxide was removed. The cause of this activity remained elusive for many years, until two laboratories independently identified methylglyoxal (MGO) as a key active component in manuka honey in 2008. MGO is a substance that occurs naturally in many foods, plants and animal cells and it has antimicrobial activity.
