Barnaby Joyce correctly points out ("Beware the red dawn") that ALP/Green policies threaten our nation with decline into the sort of socialist/communist tyranny that Solzhenitsyn spent his life exposing for the horror that it is. There is simply no credible fear at all of a comparable Nazi/fascist takeover here. Swinging voters would be well advised then to keep the Coalition in government. Admittedly, like the UK's Conservative Party, it is ideologically divided and weak about sticking to true and tried principles. Too many of its representatives and supporters prefer hedonism to metaphysics. However, casting a primary vote for one of the centre-right minority parties is the best way of administering a timely rebuke to its MPs.

To The Age        It is odd that as our federal elections process begins you should editorially warn readers of the "real danger to our communities in saying anything that divides Australian from Australian" ("Get ready for a gruelling campaign", 11/4). Elections are all about division between Australian and Australian concerning a whole range of policies and philosophies. All that can reasonably be asked is for public discussions to be conducted with courtesy, sympathy for opponents and a good sense of humour. It is swinging voters in the centre who will determine the final result. My hope is that they will weigh carefully the values of traditional Australia before casting a vote against the Coalition. Giving the reins to idealistic but foolish left-wing zealots may in itself lead to unpleasant and severe hostility between Australian and Australian in the not too distant future. It is human folly rather than wickedness that breeds revolution.

“The best alternative would be to turn the IMF into an institution fully financed and managed in its own global currency – a proposal made several decades ago by Jacques Polak, then the Fund’s leading economist. One simple option would be to consider the SDRs that countries hold but have not used as “deposits” at the IMF, which the Fund can use to finance its lending to countries. This would require a change in the Articles of Agreement, because SDRs currently are not held in regular IMF accounts.      Below is an interesting piece of work about how people survived the 1930s depression. It is important that we start collecting information about this, since the old timers are fast dying out, and the consumer generation, who have never had just bread and dripping for dinner, or wore pants made out of wheat bags, are going to be utterly smashed when TSHTF. A generation of precious snowflakes will struggle to survive. People in the depression era were many times more self-reliant than the suburbanites of today. I cannot see anything other than social chaos on the horizon, but it need not be for all, for you. Getting the core information out now to prepare for the crash is the most important thing which we can do with the limited time we have before the great train wreck of the West.

Haworth, who is also Director of the Centre for Accident Research and Road Safety in Queensland, insisted that the elimination of the word would help bike rider safety. “If we used the term people on bikes, instead of cyclists, we’re giving a term that is more human-like and less like a species,” Haworth told Daily Mail. “We need to spread the idea that those people [cyclists] could be any of us. There is need to grow a culture of mutual respect for people on bikes,” Hayworth added. The study also reportedly found that one in ten drivers would purposefully block bike riders and admitted to cutting off bikers in the past. Others admitted to yelling at bikers and even throwing things at them. The professor insisted that eliminating the word would take some of the sting out of the negativity between bike riders and motorists.

The great question now is whether the ordinary people of Britain themselves have the integrity and stamina to fight on to remove themselves from the noxious EU. A campaign of civil disobedience may be needed, together with a new Brexit party. Giving up the fight, however, would be a sign of national decadence and the people would then deserve their fate.

Alas, some languages must die as socio-cultural contexts change. Think Gaelic and Cornish in the British Isles as well as the large number of Aboriginal tongues here. However, the sign language is hardly "the greatest treasure that Australia ever had." Dr James's excessive remark raises the question: "Well, what then is our greatest treasure?"
