Beauty and the Beast and the Gay by Bruce Bennett

There has been a great storm over the appearance of a gay character in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. The director Bill Condon (when I first typed this, I mistakenly put “Condom”), has said, “I’m excited for the moment that he has. I don’t want to give too much away because I think it’s part of a whole celebration of love, but Disney’s been great about it. That’s the thing; the whole ethic of that company is inclusion.”

Condon also said, “It’s a kind of lovely little sprinkling.” See: http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2017/03/04/josh-gad-addresses-gay-beauty-and-beast-character-at-l-premiere-its-important.html. If only Walt could see it now.

The ever-politically correct Disney thinks that this is “important.” Russia thinks so too, and in its wisdom is considering banning the movie, as is an Alabama theatre: http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/movies/2017/03/04/russia-beauty-and-beast-ban-due-over-gay-character-lefoux/98743116/.

The movie concept of Beauty and the Beast has always been about race mixing, and the debasement of beauty, and the promotion of the world of the beast. So, I support the bans and hope that the movie crashes and burns. That’s just my personal opinion, of course.
